Having decent lighting will help keep customers in your room and lead to potential paid shows. No one wants to pay for a show in a room where they can barely see anything. Having great lighting can mean the difference between a quick paid show and a sizzling hour-long one! Below you will find some information that you may find handy in improving your lighting including where to purchase some inexpensive light kits and equipment as well as some basic information on 3 point lighting.

I've used coffee filters as diffusion paper in the past... they're cheap and work really well for anyone on a budget Smiley :)
Wow! Really? Won't coffee filters catch fire??? Obvliously not a factor if you're standing there watching... but??? Smiley :S
This is great. I have been having some annoying lighting issues. I went out to get some halogens but they are really way too hot to sit in front of. Still I need better lighting and this is it! You even provided links too. Epic tip. I always thought those lighting systems used by photographers cost several thousand dollars.
the coffee filters worked great Smiley :) haven't been working much lately so very tight budget! Awesome fix for an annoying problem
I would never have thought of coffee filters lol
My lighting is terrible .. Thanks for all the tips ..
I use my bearded dragons clamp on lights!! Smiley :)
My room is quite small and has a ceiling fan that issues white light. Curious the best way to couteract that light so it wont create as much contrast. Need colored clamp on lights.
Bought my light kit (2 umbrella lights w/ stands) for a great deal on Cowboystudio.com for less than $80 with shipping and handling. Super awesome starter set on the cheap!
Thanks for that tip coffee fillter..wow!
It's not rock-bottom cheap, but I highly recommend LED lights now that they are getting more affordable... AC/battery power options, and even the huge ones run cool enough to turn off and pack up instantly. For the most part also far fewer worries about breaking/blowing bulbs in transit or use. I have a "run and gun" cheapie for the top of my dSLR that's super bright for $30, and can operate as a key/back/fill as needed.

And they work GREAT with coffee filters. Smiley ;)
