*I am no expert on the following subject. The following is about my personal experiences only.
Using Skype as a platform for cam shows can be a profitable venture and give you independence from working under a cam site. But with that freedom there are certain things you should know.
Let's start with some of the technical basics. First you will need to download Skype and read the rules and how it works. Once downloaded you'll need to set up a profile. Skype was not built to be a platform for cam modeling so the profile section is your typical personal information, a 'mood' line where you enter your daily mood and a small section 'about me' where you can put a few words there too. It's very important that you go over this information carefully because next to each item there is an option for it to be 'public' or 'private'. You don't want your personal information public so you'll need to check 'private'. I use the 'mood' section to place my quick plug or my first impression. Mine says
‘Check me out at www.camgirlcollective.com/MamaRedHot’
then let me know if you're interested in a naughty show!' It has to be short and sweet due to the character limitation. Next in the 'about me' section I put a little more about me and what I offer. Again there isn't a lot of room here to go on and on so keep it succinct and effective. You can upload an avatar pic but there is no photo gallery so choose wisely. The thumbnail is small so your pic needs to be effective.
Once you've set up your profile you'll need to decide if you want your profile private or public. If you choose private then only people you give your Skype id to can find you. If you make it public then everyone on this great green earth will find you!!! This is a blessing and a curse depending on how you see it! If you choose private, then like I said the only traffic you'll get is from those you send there with your id. If you make it public then prepare to get absolutely bombarded with folks looking for nasty fun. The only problem is that many of these people are used to finding others to have fun with for FREE! There are so many freeloaders out there on Skype it's almost epidemic. Also because it is international, it can be sometimes difficult to communicate negotiations and some cultures and countries don't believe in paying for sex. When someone attempts to contact you they will send you a contact request and you will have to 'accept' or 'decline' their contact request. An instant message conversation box will also be available at this time. It is not necessary for someone to be accepted as a contact to IM with them but they will not be able to video chat with you unless you do. This is when the negotiations begin.
You can waste a LOT OF TIME trying to find out if someone is legit or not so come up with a game plan. Whenever I get a contact request the first thing I do is cut and paste my tag line from the 'mood' section ('.check me out at
http://www.camgirlcollective.com/MamaRedHot/
then let me know if you're interested in a naughty show) and hit send and finish going about what I was doing because many will need a minute or two to check out my page. Or they will try to negotiate you into a free show, or can I have a preview first bb (which is when I tell them there are a ton of pics on my link to look at), or they will just never respond. I can easily say that I get an average of 20 contact requests in a 4 hour period and only 1 or 2 are willing to pay for a show. Once you start having these types of interactions you can start to tell right away if it's going anywhere or not.
Like I said, Skype was not intended for cam shows so there is no payment processor. You have to decide how you will be compensated for your show. When I first started using Skype for cam shows the only option I had was Amazon Gift Cards. I set up an Amazon wish list where I put a gift card option. I would negotiate my price and time with the client and send him to my wishlist to purchase a gift card. I racked up a nice balance quickly. The drawback is that you can't pay the light bill with Amazon Gift Cards and privacy can be an issue if you don't set up your Amazon wishlist properly (more on that at another time)! Then came SkyPrivate.com! SkyPrivate.com, although still in its infantile stage, has changed the way I get paid for Skype shows. SkyPrivate.com is not affiliated with Skype but works in conjunction with it through its plug-in. In a nutshell, you set up a profile, download the plug-in and set a per minute rate. Guests who visit SkyPrivate.com will set up an account with a major credit card and deposit money into their account in order to pay for shows. After they check out the profiles and choose a model of their liking they can click on a button on your profile page that sends them directly to your Skype. A contact request from someone who found you on SkyPrivate.com does not look any different from a regular Skype request so I always ask someone 'how they found me'. If they say SkyPrivate.com then I say great let's go. If not then I send them to my SkyPrivate.com profile. Now the SkyPrivate.com member can video call you and it charges them per minute for the show (see details about how the plug-in works on their FAQ page). For payout from SkyPrivate.com you can choose from several options. There are tons more details about SkyPrivate.com and if you are interested there are several threads posted and there is also a rep here on Wecamgirls that can answer any questions you may have. Personally I have had nothing but success with them, their rates are fair, and support has been fantastic. The only downside thus far has been the amount of time it takes to withdraw your money but like I said they are still working out the kinks.
Another great option is right here through your Camgirlcollective profile!!! Now that we have a 'tribute' option I have negotiated a price and sent a client to my CGC page to pay me by making a tribute. Tristan and Rutger are still working out the payouts for this and are working on an option for us to be able to take payments for cam shows right from our CGC profiles in the very near future. I am really excited about these new options! The nice thing about having a guest pay through the tribute option is that there is no 'sign up' for the guest. They enter the amount and hit tribute and it asks them for their credit card #. Done. You receive an email almost instantly that you have a new tribute and away you go!
There are other sites you may work for that have a tribute option you can use. You can have your guests tip you through your regular system through 'tokens' or 'gold' but typically the percentage to you is less than what SkyPrivate.com or CGC offer. There are other options as well if you offer payment processors like Payoneer, Zombioo, Redpass, etc and gift cards but I personally don't know enough about them or their fees to use them yet. There are plenty of reviews here on Wecamgirls about other payment processors. Be a good cam model and never, ever, ever use Paypal!
Some things to remember when using Skype for camming. Remember that you are not protected by the parent cam site so you are responsible for everything you do. Which means several things to you. It is your responsibility to make sure that the person you are camming with is of legal age. There are tons of scammers out there. Take time to search the forums here on Wecamgirls to read about some of the problems and issues others have encountered when trying to cam through Skype. Be safe, be prepared, be informed, have fun, enjoy camming independence, and make that money!! Feel free to contact me if I can help in any way or answer questions not covered here.
Being a camgirl can be very lucrative, you know it, live cam platforms know it! But before you get lots of visitors to your room and make enough cash to fill up your bathtub, you still have to work hard! Think about it: you have to schedule hours of camming, doing photoshoots, posting on your socials, and come up with new naughty ideas to keep your fanbase engaged. But all of that isn’t f [...]

The webcam world is unique in that it closely mirrors the trends of society and sexualizes many different otherwise overlooked areas of life for fans. Trends like gamer girls, MILFs and more have gotten a big boost from cam girls portraying those genres of erotica, but now we are seeing the open possibility to do even more than that during the global BLM movement that seems to be sweeping its own [...]
