[i]Being as involved with le interwebs as much as I am unfortunately attracts a lot of trolls. In my opinion, a troll is someone who says mean or false things on purpose for attention. There's no way to avoid them because they will come to you and are always searching for their next "victim." [/i]
I try not to fall victim to trolls and it's hard to learn what is best for dealing with them.
� Ignoring them can work until they do something more extreme to get your attention.
� Banning them works and feels good, but I'm not sure if that's just giving them what they wanted after all. The satisfaction of knowing they irritated you or hurt your feelings.
� Arguing with a troll however, is just senseless. That's clearly what they feed off of.
My strategy is usually one upping a troll with a snarky come back and a good ol' ban. I don't know if that's the best way to handle the situation but it sure does feel good! As long as you feel good about your choice, that's what matters the most. Just DON'T let them continue to feed off of your emotions.
Don't let a troll get you down. They will find your weakness and peck at it. I'm going to be honest and say that sometimes people hurt my feelings on the internet. Is it reasonable for me to feel hurt? Yes and no. Maybe something you are insecure about is always trolled on. You don't like the shape of your face and it's bound to make you upset when someone says it's ugly, but don't stew over it. Stewing is not reasonable. Take your hurt and become stronger.
Trolls are either very pathetic people or just young kids and you always need to keep that in mind. A lot of kids just like being assholes on the internet and sometimes those kids never grow up. They turn into simple minded adults who have to hide behind anonymous user names to throw out insults. Uneducated insults as a matter of fact.
I actually find trolls very sad. Why does someone feel the need to go out of their way to put people down? It's just ridiculous and sick that they get a sense of well being from this. People who hide behind the internet should feel ashamed of themselves. It's ok to joke and tease but I've heard and been told horrible things.

Seriously? Brushed it off because that one is too outlandish to even bother me at all. Say that same thing to a suicidal young girl and see if you laugh later though. Trolling is just as bad as cyber bullying and easily traceable as well. Don't think you are anonymous just because it says so.

Had my first troll last night. His screen name was Jigga ( on streammate). I am a BBW and i'm 41 and pretty confident, but this guy came into a packed room full of really nice guys and started telling everyone that he had me, I was awful, fat, suck, old, and not worth their time. Mind you the words he use were a lot worse. What happened next surprised me.....all the guys in my room started telling him to shut the fuck up and that I was a goddess! I kicked him out and he came back for more and the guys rallied again and started chanting...fuck off. fuck off...so I banned him for good. Once he was gone the other guys showered me with praises and told me not to let it bother me. Wow! Chivalry is NOT dead!
You wrote this perfectly, I couldn't have worded it any better. Trolls are just sad, lonely or young people that have too much time on their hands with not enough love in their lives ;p
Heres another strategy: turn the other cheek (doesnt work all the time) but sometimes showing them love makes them change. I had a troll when I used to work on F4F: banned him 5 times in 3 hours

I just hit the ban button, and if that don't work I log off for a few hours. I don't freak out that bad over trolls I guess I have a thick skin when it comes down to it.
if someone is gonna say something like "how many tokens/gold to slit your wrest" I would give them a number to see if they will tip it. If they did (which most wont) just say thank you and keep his money. Im pretty sure if he reported me to SM, then I can just state my case and prob keep the money cause hes the one that needed to be reported.

A few weeks ago I earned the respect of a troll. He/she came in my room and said lets call your mom and let her hear you get off. I laughed it off but he kept going on and on just saying things to see if he could hit a nerve. I never said out loud what he was actually saying to me just wow babe your a weird fuck, honey you got some issues. I'm not the girl for you maybe you should ask another model. Of course the room wants to know what hes asking. I repeated his name several times during our conversation. So everyone would know who he was...then I said you guys want to know? He's got some issues...Make sure if you see him in another models room you let her know. LMAO he changed his tune real fast...his next comment was damn your good! On Naked.com you can only silence them for 30 days so I figure its better to beat them at their game cuz in a month im gonna have to deal with them again. Why block just have some fun.
Yea they use to majorly affect me but I have grown a thick skin and know how to block them now. My husband lost his job recently and he is having a really really hard time dealing with the trolling to the point it hurts his performance. Block them as fast as you can because sometimes it is like the domino effect. One troll says something horrible and they see you react whatsoever more trolls will get involved and gang up. My husband actually has to take a shot of liquor (and he is not a drinker and I don't drink at all) but just enough to take the edge off so he doesn't care at all. I am a mom with kids and these jerks really have hurt my money the past 2 weeks. Broke us so bad I was getting scared. I went from making 800-1300 a week to 200 in 7 days. That bad. But this week with his one shot we jumped back up to 850 thank goodness!
And I am a former overweight girl, dropped out of school due to bullying from being so called ugly,flat chested, & poor. I have had some really ugly comments about my breast implants, and one time I actually cried because it actually took me back to my school days being so depressed. All the girls I am sorry we have to deal with this bs. I am looking for friends because I don't have many so if you want to friend me please do so!

He also told me about how those trolls change ip addresses. he has def taught me a lot concerning trolls. I still have them come in my room and be completely mean and rude and trust me I BLOCK them. It can get very very irritating and frustrating dealing with these people but if you learn HOW TO DEAL WITH THEM it can be very helpful. Good luck to you ladies. Bell

When I first started, trolls got to me so bad that I ended up crying! But over the years I ended up having a system, I dont ban them because that would mean that they are so important to me, that I would take the time to ban them so I come back at them with what I have best and my friends have my back too... in the end they either leave or apologize.

Especially if I had regular in the room because they always take me prvt ,not wanting to see me upset. Streamate is a different story .I dont have to deal with free guest and I refuse . They usually only get to say one rude thing and BAN!. My ban list isnt big either only about 180 after 1 1/2 and every single person deserves to be on there.

It's not always kids. There's this 50 year old webcamgirl, a collegue, that goes on insulting other girls. Sometimes she has a 'reason', (i don't think there ever is a reason), but most of the time there isn't. The other day she called me a whale for no reason, or she calls girls whores or scumbags or pathetic to girls she thinks deserve it to be called names. I forwarded her tweets to chaturbate, and then she got a warning. Another girl mailed cb too and then she got a ban, finally.. She put out some girls real names too, whatever they have done on cam, that is just awfull ! I figure camming is a lot like being a comedian. The hecklers are annoying, but they're probably sad people who want attention. Sometimes, banning them quietly is best, but one tastefully snarky comment does the trick. I've actually PMed a couple to ask the person to stop doing something without embarrassing them�this works sometimes. Use your best judgement...Overall though, I have to say:don't feed the trolls!
